Mayor Leppert Shares Leadership Skills with Business Community

Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert shared lessons in leadership at the 3rd Annual University of Texas at Dallas Project Management Symposium Thursday.

A strong leader must understand the importance of strategy, communication and education, said Tom Leppert, a keynote speaker at the School of Management event at the UT Dallas campus.

“Being a leader, you must work with people and through people to accomplish an objective,” he said. “A key rule of leaders is to educate. Educate the people around you no matter their background or level.”

Almost 100 project managers, business people and community leaders attended the event, which focused on defining best practices in the business community. The School of Management and the Project Management Institute Dallas Chapter sponsored the symposium. The Mayor discussed various project challenges and the fundamentals of leadership. During a question and answer period, Mayor Leppert stressed that he is optimistic about Dallas’ economic growth.
