Today, six Dallas Cowboys legends announced their endorsement of Tom for U.S. Senate.
The Cowboys legends are hall of fame quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman, safety Cliff Harris, linebackers Lee Roy Jordan and Bob Breunig, and defensive lineman Chad Hennings.
Together, these legends have combined for 12 Super Bowl trophies, 25 Pro Bowl selections, and four are members of the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Legends.
Here is what the Cowboys legends have said about Tom:
Roger Staubach (1969-1979): “I’ve known Tom for years and he is a man of tremendous faith, character, and principle. I am proudly supporting Tom for Senate because he has the vision, knowledge, and business experience to get our country back on track.”
Troy Aikman (1989-2000): “As a businessman, Tom went the extra mile and made the hard calls in order to grow companies and create jobs. As mayor of Dallas, Tom helped turn around the city by making tough decisions that weren’t always popular. In the NFL we call that leadership, and it’s exactly what we need in Washington.”
Cliff Harris (1970-1979): “Tom has demonstrated time after time that he is a problem solver. From running businesses and creating thousands of jobs to making Dallas government smaller and more efficient when everyone said it couldn’t be done, Tom has proven he is capable of accomplishing every challenge put in front of him. We need leaders like Tom in Washington who will work hard to get our economy turned around and won’t cut corners or make the same excuses we’re so used to hearing from politicians.”
Lee Roy Jordan (1963-1976): "Our nation is in need of leaders like Tom who have actually run businesses, created jobs, and know what small businesses need to thrive. We need Tom's leadership and experience in the United States Senate."
Bob Breunig (1975-1984): "As Mayor, Tom laid out an optimistic vision for the future and backed it up with tremendous leadership and conservative policies that allowed Dallas' economy to grow. I'm proud to consider Tom a friend, and I'm excited to endorse him for U.S. Senate."
Each of these former Cowboys greats has had a successful career in the private sector since retiring. Roger Staubach currently serves as the executive chairman of Jones Lang LaSalle Americas. Troy Aikman is two-time Emmy nominated sportscaster for The NFL on Fox. Cliff Harris currently serves as the President of Energy Transfer Group. Lee Roy Jordan is the owner of the Lee Roy Jordan Redwood Lumber Company, which is headquartered in Dallas. Bob Breunig serves as the president of Breunig Commercial, an investment real estate company. A Gulf War veteran, Chad Hennings is a Christian motivational speaker and author. In 2010, he was named “Dallas Father of the Year” along with Tom Leppert.
